Welcome to The Wide Welly Company! Pull up a pew and grab a cuppa, while we tell you everything that makes our little welly company extra special. 

Let’s face it: most wellies feel tighter than a pair of Spanx at a buffet! If you’ve ever attempted to squeeze your legs into narrow boots, you know the struggle is real! After years of seeing people - well, mainly ladies, wrestle with too-tight boots, our founder, Verity, decided enough was enough. She knew there needed to be more to life than spending twenty minutes doing the welly wiggle dance every time you wanted to leave the house! 

And thus, in 2014... The Wide Welly Company was born! Finally, wellies for the rest of us! 
Verity’s got the inside scoop on wellies- quite literally! Living by the beach, she’s in her wellies more than she’s in her slippers (and that’s saying something). Whether she’s strolling along the sand with her friends’ dogs, gardening in the drizzle, or running around with her kids; Verity knows a thing or two about what makes a splendid pair of boots. 

Now, let’s talk rubber. Every pair of Wide Wellies is made with a 50% natural rubber content - that’s more than your typical high street wellies. Why? Because we believe your wellies should last a lot longer than the average British Summer.   Verity has a background in manufacturing (not wellies!) and is fascinated by quality control.  Which means that over the years, as she's learnt about rubber and welly production, she has developed the product.  We may be at 50% rubber now, but watch this space.....

Wellies are made by hand. Well, almost a hundred pairs of hands if we're splitting hairs! Because our wellies have the added gusset and the adjustable strap, there's an incredible amount of preparation to be done before we even get to the production line.  The rubber maybe rolled by machine, but it's all cut by hand; as are the fabric straps; and then the buckle attachments need to be constructed.  That's a serious amount of effort!

As for the insoles (or foot beds to use their correct term!), there are thousands of insoles available to use and actually, we realised that many of you were removing our insoles and replacing with your own orthotics.  But for those of you that don't have a preferred insole, we have started including two options with our wellies.  The insole affects the comfort and fit of your welly - you can decide which you prefer!

And Verity? She’s the mastermind behind every design. Whether it’s a bright, fun pattern inspired by her home on The Wirral, or a more understated look, she’s got it covered. Every pair of wellies has a bit of Verity’s personality in them. You’ll find something to match your vibe, whether you're looking to turn heads, or you’re more of an “I just want dry feet” person. 

We don't just stop at looks, though. Our boots are crafted with a single gusset to stop that annoying calf rub, and here’s the game changer: we’re the ONLY wellies in the country with a cam buckle. Once you adjust it, it stays put- no more fiddling about with finicky clasps halfway through your walk! Plus, our Wide Wellies are thicker, stronger and totally durable. 

At the Wide Welly Company, we’re also fascinated by the science of it all. Did you know our feet and calves are getting wider because we wear trainers more? Verity’s all about embracing this change and making sure we’re ready for the future of wellies - wide, comfy, and fabulous. 

These wellies aren’t just boots, they’re a lifestyle, and one that Verity wants to share with the whole of the UK. She’s determined to build a nation of welly wearing wonderers, one comfy calf at a time.

At the heart of it all, it’s the people that keep us going. And one thing Verity prides herself on, is customer service.  She loves it almost as much as she loves rubber!  Your experience matters, and she delights in receiving your feedback.
